Rationale
Being curious about how the world works and open to taking on significant challenges has helped me enjoy working in the field of consulting. At the very least – I have truly appreciated the opportunity to learn about many different fields of endeavor. One of the techniques I have used to help me deal with complex problems is listing as many of the elements, or variables, in the puzzle as I can and work to understand the interrelationships among those variables. Sometimes this thinking results in a diagram that helps me with concepts and leads to a path toward improvement. A small sub-set of those lists and diagrams seem to me to have the potential for being helpful in more general problem-solving applications. In this website, I have collected some of those diagrams, lists and explanations into categories and they are available to tickle your brain. Most of the items here relate to subject areas such as:
- Management systems
- Organizational design
- Enterprise excellence
- Performance improvement
- Leadership & management
- Coaching
For me, applying some of my consulting tools and techniques to world-level conundrums seems to be inescapable. Sometimes this appears to lead to interesting considerations – other times: not-so-much. Through this fog of mental muddling I have come to suspect that two topics emerge as both extremely important and under appreciated. Those are: (1) Moral Responsibility and (2) Education. In my way of thinking there is a strong connection between both of these two topics and striving toward excellence, and one’s full potential – the concepts of “entelechy.” I believe that encouraging others to apply more thought and energy in these subject areas is essential for the progress of humankind, therefore, I have included some of my initial thinking on these topics as well. It is my hope that others will find this enticing and lead toward meaningful understanding, appreciation and improvement.
